Entrepreneur Jack Balemi founded JB Sales in 1952, with the involvement in a range of capacities of all six of his sons. Jack brought a new Ransom Rapier Dragline from the UK, which he put to use on his own farmland and contracted out to farmers to improve drainage – the JB Contracting business was born.
JB Sales' claim to fame is the development of their JB Quick Hitch Coupler in 1985 and was viewed as revolutionary among those in the Earthmoving Attachment Industry. The JB Quick Hitch Coupler is patented worldwide and sold by high profile firms including Millers in the UK and Hendrix in the US. JB has a very strong sales and marketing capability internationally and was an early adopter of stress testing analysis software.
The company was a family affair with Jack’s son's Tim and Simon Balemi undertaking the company's new direction in more recent times. Tim continued to head up the New Zealand business while Simon forged into the Australian market in 1992 to further expand the company.
JB Sales expanded throughout Australasia securing exclusive agency distribution rights to import the top brands in Earthmoving Products. In 1990 the company also added Horizontal Directional Drilling products to its fields of speciality.
The JB Multi-Coupler is the perfect example of the innovation and attention to manufacture that the company employed. The JB Multi Coupler, patented worldwide, is a New Zealand and Australia registered product and is now manufactured for all five continents. The continuing research and development performed on this product and other JB products, through the inventive mind of Tim Balemi, ensured their place as leaders in the market.
